Individualized Focus

People should be the driving force behind their own services and determining what is needed and what is important. Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services (DIDD) is moving toward adoption of Principles of Person Centered Practices. The Arc Washington County supports over 800 people making choices regarding what services they need and want. The Arc has adopted these principles and is working to implement these practices and methods of service planning and delivery. Please click here to view details of Person Centered Practices.

NEW Occupational Therapy Program

An occupational therapist (OT), unlike physical therapists, is specially trained to help patients perform daily activities safely and effectively while also building confidence and promoting independence.

Occupational therapy can assist with:

  • Pain management

  • Neurological conditions, including MS or cerebral palsy

  • Mental health disorders

  • Intellectual/developmental disabilities

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the individual to help ensure families and community members have the necessary support to live at their best.

“Without The Arc’s support, my daughter wouldn’t be the happy, thriving, child that she is today.”

— Jessica F, Family Support participant
